BIO
Marc Marquez was born with a passion for two-wheeled competition. Receiving his first motorcycle as a gift from his parents at the age of four, Marquez’s incredible journey began. His first race came just one year later, but it was in 2001 that his competitive fire really began to burn, as he won the Catalan Motocross and Enduro Championship at the age of 8. And the rest, as they say, is history.
In 2002, Marquez made the [now] historic switch to road racing. Marching forward to 2008 (and several amatuer championships later), Marc debuted as a rookie on the world stage in the 125cc World Championship at age 15, and within two races scored his very first podium at Donington Park.
Marquez continued setting the MotoGP world on fire in 2010 when he earned his first-ever World Championship in the 125cc class by securing 12 pole positions and 10 victories. After an up-and-down 2011 season in the highly-contested Moto2 class, Marquez finished runner-up in the championship. In 2012, Marc raced his way to 9 impressive wins en route to securing the Moto2 title–his second World Championship.
His debut in the premier MotoGP class came in 2013, and Marquez continued to impress as he became the youngest-ever MotoGP champion–the first rookie to win since “King” Kenny Roberts in 1978. Marquez defended his MotoGP title in 2014 and won a record-setting 10 races in a row (13 total victories).
Securing his 8th world championship in 2019, the reigning MotoGP champ now has his sights set on more dominant performances, as he continues riding himself into the history books…
